Seniors and Fashion: Style Has No Age Limit

When thinking about fashion, one may typically associate the term with youthful faces and not those of seniors. If you type in “grandma” or “grandpa” clothes on Google the results are frumpy cardigans, mumus, long skirts, sweater vests, and funky ties. Not to say that there is anything wrong with these clothing items, but these are not the only clothing options. Fashion has no limit, including age! The following are prime examples of how to age in style:  hype-beast grandpa Abram Alojz, 75 years old, and the Japanese fashion couple, also known as Bon and Pon, 60 and 61 years old, show just what can be done with a bit of wardrobe expansion.

Streetwear, or “casual clothing of a style worn especially by members of various urban youth subcultures”, is not only for the young, but also the young at heart. Here is Abram, showing how a varsity jacket paired with a  wide pant can suit anyone. Pair this outfit with Jordan 1s and top it  with a beanie and some stylish shades to accessorize.

If you want to try something new, try a knitted sweater, but with denim overalls for a cozy winter look. Cuff those pant legs up and leave a strap unbuttoned for a little more attitude!

If you are looking for a more sleek look, take a look at these business casual outfits that can be accessorized to incorporate your own individual style. As displayed here by Bon and Pon, patterns and complimentary colors can add some character to a look even if they are on the neutral side.

Add a bit more pop to the ensemble with some bright colored accessories or socks. Bon and Pon showing the importance of details with red accents for their outfits!

The fashion world is ever changing, with different types of garments and color combinations being explored on a daily basis. The possibilities of looking one’s best are truly endless giving us all the more reason to explore them no matter what our age may be. “Age is not a taboo in the fashion industry. One should learn what to wear to look good at any age.” – Chica Machado
