Social Services and Resources for Older Adults in Los Angeles County

Purposeful Aging of LA stated that Los Angeles County is home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of older adults. Los Angeles County consists of an estimated 10,118,759 residents as of 2020. From this population, about 1.1 million are Seniors (65+ years old). Between 2010 and 2030, the older adult population of Los Angeles is expected to double. The older adult group shows the greatest growth among other age-groups. The older adult population is also becoming more racially and ethnically diverse. With this emerging population, city officials are planning for the future in order to meet the demands of this group.

Social services for older adults have had their share of shortcomings. There are limitations, eligibility criterias, and long waiting periods. Many city officials and residents are aware of these problems. The city of Los Angeles is developing initiatives, services, and resources to help and cater to their older adults and aging population. Here at WellPath Partners, we are helping to close that gap by providing resources to individuals in Los Angeles county and expanding to other counties in Southern California.
